Welcome to Center Brunswick Fire Company

The Volunteer Fire Company of Center Brunswick is one of five fire departments serving the Town of Brunswick.  The Town of Brunswick is located in upstate NY, Rensselaer County.  Our fire district is comprised of rural character with a heavily traveled state highway.

It is our mission to provide a comprehensive emergency service designed to enhance our community through fire prevention, public education, and emergency response.  The members of the fire company are dedicated to protecting life, property, and the environment.

Center Brunswick assisted at a mutual aid structure fire involving a small shed.  The fire was knocked down and all units were in service in a short time. 


 
   
   
Brunswick Farmers Market

The fire company attended the Town of Brunswick Farmers Market on 7-17-2010 to meet with the community.  We handed out fire prevention and safety materials to the many visitors.  It was beautiful weather wise and a successful day for the fire company.


 
   
   
Dumpster Fire
On Sat 6-19-2010 at approximately 1630hrs the fire company was dispatched for a dumpster fire at a residence under construction.  Upon C-2 arrival, the report was a working dumpster fire. C-3 and 7-7 were also on scene and extinguished the fire.


 
   
   
Prom Accident Drill
Friday, May 21, 2010

On May 21st the fire company participated in the prom accident drill exercise at Tamarac High School to stress the importance of not drinking and driving.  Eagle Mills, Pittstown, Mountain View, Center Brunswick, Brunswick 1, Mohawk Ambulance, Rensselaer County Sheriffs, New York State Police all participated in the drill. 


 
   
   
Mutual Aid 2nd Alarm Structure Fire
On April 14th at 2030 hours the fire company was dispatched for a 2nd alarm assignment from Pittstown for a working structure fire on  Johnsonville road.  7-6 C-1 C-2 C-3 responded to assist with extinguishment and overhaul. 


 
   
   
Mayday Training Class
A Mayday training class was held by the Battallion 2 fire companies on 4-12-2010 at the Center Brunswick Fire Station.  The class instructor was Gerald Paris from Colonie.  There was both a lecture series and hands on training portion.  The class was excellent training for all firefighters.  For more information go to www.maydaytraining.com.


 
   
   
Ice Rescue Class

An Ice Rescue Class was held at the Center Brunswick Fire Station on Jan 16th and 17th.  The class was attended by Center Brunswick, Raymertown, and Pittstown fire departments.  Instruction was provided by NYS OFPC intructors.  Thanks to all that participated and thanks to all the instructors for their time and efforts.


 
   
   
Structure Fire
On December 13, 2009 at approximately 1436 hrs the Center Brunswick Fire Company, Mountain View Fire Co. for the F.A.S.T. team and Mohawk Ambulance were dispatched to a reported structure fire with reports of smoke and fire coming from the front porch of a residence.  C-2 arrived on scene and reported a 1 1/2 story wood frame construction house with a heavy smoke and fire condition from the front porch area.  C-2 was met by NYSP Unit 1G22 who reported that all occupants were out of the building.  C-1 requested a 2nd Alarm assignment be transmitted.  C-1, C-3 and 7-7 arrived and crews from 7-7 stretched an 1 3/4" handline to the front door.  The fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control.  The fire was contained to the front porch area with moderate smoke and water damage to the interior of the residence.  Crews worked for a little over an hour doing overhaul and mop up.  C-1, C-2, C-3, 7-7, 7-6 and FR-7 were all on scene.  Crews were assisted on scene by the Brunswick #1, Eagle Mills, Mountain View, Pittstown, Raymertown Fire Departments, Speigletown Fire Co. for standby, and Rensselaer County Fire Investigation Team, Mohawk Ambulance and the New York State Police.


 
   
   
Mutual Aid Traffic Accident
On December 6th, the Center Brunswick Fire Company was dispatched to a traffic accident with entrapment for mutual aid with Brunswick #1.  Upon arrivial there were two cars at the intersection of North Lake Avenue and Frear Park road with occupants entrapped.  Extrication comenced and the occupants were removed quickly and transported by Mohawk ambulance.  C-1, C-2, C-3, R-7 and Brunswick No. 1 units were on scene.


 
   
   
Drill at Eagle Mills Fire Department
On Monday November 30th the Eagle Mills Fire Department held a propane fire class.  The class consisted of an indoor training lecture regarding propane emergencies.  At the completion of the indoor training session, outside live fire excercises were conducted with propane props.    We would like to thank Instructor Glenn Myers  for teaching the class and EMFD for hosting.  In all it was a successful class and thanks to all those that participated.
